Having trauma can influence how someone can behave towards others. Depending on what they’ve been through in their past, it reflects on them in their present/future. Trauma can cause us to be socially unacceptable and or self-limited

Some people tend to be close-minded and ignorant when dealing with people who suffer from trauma. Such interactions exacerbate trauma. People should take into consideration that their past can have an effect on the way they are today. Saying such things as “you’re too sensitive” or “you’re overreacting, get over it” can lead to people suffering from trauma believing their emotions aren’t valid or they won’t be able to overcome what happened.

Being open-minded to those suffering can help them feel more comfortable and safe with others. Helping them feel more safe and comforted can possibly uplift them. So, the next time you find someone anxious, confused, isolated, depressed, or lacking self-confidence, be empathetic and listen. Don’t be quick to judge or invalidate what they are feeling. Trauma can happen to any of us. Let’s be kind to each other.
