Think of times like 2016, flower filters, Drake’s One Dance playing, and a great summer. When you think of that time, do you go back and say, “was that my best time or day of the year ?” or do you reminisce about the negative?

Many people will see nostalgia as a distraction because sometimes you can’t relive that certain time of your life, but I feel like nostalgia plays a vital role in people’s good days in the year because it brings back old vibes you have, and it brings back happier feelings to your present life. So nostalgia helps build good days

Having good days sometimes help with your confidence and your social life. According to How to make happy memories last forever by Marie Claire, “Nostalgia makes us happy, increasing self-esteem and strengthening social connectedness, so the more vividly we remember the good times, the happier we are overall.”

Repeatedly, studies have shown that the simple act of reminiscing can positively affect mood, whether writing about a nostalgic event or selecting music from the past! Reminiscing about a fabulous old hairstyle or a memory of an accomplishment can also boost your self-esteem.

Some may argue that they may have traumatic events in the past, and thinking about them can be depressing. Additionally, others may practice the motto of “live in the present.” While all the above may be true, I believe that while living in the present, being nostalgic about good times can bring joy to our present life and help us get through the hard times!
